The Migrant Out-of-School Youth (OSY) Initiative was implemented to identify and recruit migrant youth, up to age 21, not currently enrolled in school, who do not have a high school diploma or GED. Through this initiative we hope to determine instructional and support services needed to help improve the quality of life for all migrant out-of-school youth.

The goal of the Migrant Out-of-School Youth Initiative is to ensure that all OSY have access to appropriate services based on identified needs.

An OSY Specialist will conduct a needs assessment with each out-of-school youth to determine what individual needs and services will best help them be successful. The OSY Specialist will also assist districts in ensuring that migrant out-of-school youths have access to academic support, resources, and services based on identified needs.
